My name is Marie-Laure Delage-Carlson. A mouthful, I know.
I was born in France, in the Alps. You could either find me outside observing - and keeping record - of nature or with my nose in a book. Reading perched in trees was my specialty (which was mildly annoying to my maman since I often came back home with sap on my clothes and hair).
Another favorite of mine was listening to old people. Every chance I got I spent time listening to the stories that people who had already lived a long life had to share. I went on walks with them and by the time I was 15 I knew quite a few edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms, and their magical properties. It remained an interest of mine and many years later I decided to become an herbalist. I studied for years with Demetria Clark at The School of Herbs, took classes from 7Song and Rosemary Gladstar. I also did a 6 months mentorship with Rosalee de la Forêt and I am now a certified Herbalist.
I live in California's capital city Sacramento with my husband, 3 children, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 8 hens and 1 bunny.
